Up-to-date information about licensure and the practice of psychology in Connecticut is provided by the Department of Public Health and the Board of Examiners of Psychology. Both the Department and the Board provide excellent resources for psychologists, students, and consumers. CPA works closely with these bodies to advocate for psychology and provide our membership with important information.

Board of Examiners of Psychologists
Members of the Connecticut Psychological Association agree to abide by the Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct published by the American Psychological Association.
The Board of Examiners
Connecticut’s Board of Examiners of Psychology (the Board), as established within the CT General Statutes in the chapter pertaining to psychologists, is the disciplinary body for psychologists within our state. The Board is charged with the following duties: (1) hear and decide matters concerning suspension or revocation of licensure, (2) adjudicate complaints filed against licensed practitioners, and (3) impose sanctions where appropriate. Members of the Board of Examiners are appointed by the Governor, and the Board meets at least quarterly. The Board functions within the Department of Public Health.

The Department of Public Health
The Department of Public Health (the Department) exists to protect and improve the health and safety of the people of Connecticut. Their Regulatory Department includes programs related to the providers of health services, including psychologists. The Department maintains a section of their webpage devoted to Psychologist Licensure. This includes information about licensure requirements, the practice act, and licensure fees.

Persons wishing to file a complaint against a psychologist may contact the Connecticut Department of Public Health, and/or the Ethics Committee of the American Psychological Association:
