Abstract:
This presentation will focus on poverty and the environment as social determinants of cognitive health. The presentation will also discuss the intersection between social justice advocacy and public health by highlighting the efforts of local institutions/organizations in promoting health equity in underserved communities
Learning Objectives:
- Define at least 2 social determinants of health: clarify the interaction between poverty and the environment as conditions of life that influence health disparities.
- Learn how at least 3 health disparities influence aging and cognitive health outcomes at the community level, specifically in CT.
- Highlight at least 2 social justice efforts and resources geared towards reducing health inequities for vulnerable communities in CT with a discussion of future directions
