Our next Leadership Development Program for Graduate Students of Color is scheduled for Monday, February 22, 2021 from 7:00-8:30 PM Eastern Time. Drs. Janan Wyatt and Gifty Ampadu will lead a conversation that provides guidance on how to practice self-care to prevent and overcome burnout. Information about the speakers and the meeting information can be found below.

Dr. Janan Wyatt earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Rhode Island, with a specialty concentration in multicultural psychology. She received her pre-doctoral and post-doctoral training at Yale University, School of Medicine. Her program of research focuses on providing efficacious treatment for traditionally underserved and minoritized groups, which is reflected in her clinical practice. As a clinician she has worked with individuals confronting issues such as substance use, mood disorders, interpersonal trauma, pervasive community violence, chronic homelessness, and serious mental illness. She has a specialty interest working with individuals involved in the legal system or who have been most recently released from incarceration. Her program of research has focused on substance use in African American communities, and specifically targets increasing treatment utilization, improving outcomes, and expanding access to equitable health services and culturally congruent care.

Dr. Gifty Ampadu received her doctoral degree from the University of Rhode Island with a dual concentration in multicultural psychology and research methodology. She completed her clinical psychology internship at Mt. Sinai St. Luke’s Hospital and a postdoctoral training in private practice.
