Greetings from Connecticut Psychological Association’s Diversity Committee, Ethnic Diversity Task Force, and Student Division!
Our next Leadership Development Program for Graduate Students of Color is scheduled for Monday, October 26, 2020 7:00-8:30 PM Eastern Time. Our speaker, Dr. Maysa Akbar, is a board-certified clinical psychologist, an Assistant Clinical Professor at Yale University, School of Medicine, and the CEO and founder of Integrated Wellness Group, a psychotherapy practice specializing in treating race-based trauma. She also represents the American Psychological Association at the United Nations where she informs psychology practice within the international community. In addition to her incredible clinical and advocacy work, she has become a best-selling author of two books: Urban Trauma, A Legacy of Racism and Beyond Ally: The Pursuit of Racial Justice. During her talk, Dr. Akbar will share insider knowledge about how to become a successful author.
This is a free event and is a safe space dedicated for Graduate Students of Color. Feel free to invite friends and colleagues who identify as BIPOC. Whether you have attended previous event meetings or not, we really value your thoughts about how we can support students of color. Please fill out the anonymous feedback form to make your voice heard. We hope you will take a few minutes to share your candid feedback about your experiences and what you would like to see from us in the future. We want to make this the best program it can be for you!
