CPA Webinar – An Examination of Systemic Racism

CPA remains steadfast as a voice against the grave racial injustices we are witnessing or experiencing in the news and in our daily lives. As part of our mission to grow and learn together as psychologists, please join CPA for an “An Examination of Systemic Racism” on Wednesday, September 23rd from 8-9 pm.
Shiva Rezvan, PhD, Assistant Professor and Internship Coordinator for the Clinical Counseling Program at Albertus Magnus College and Carol Huckaby, MA, MS, Professor and Associate Director of Human Services at Albertus Magnus College will co-present and dialogue about implicit biases and how they create systemic racism. Dr. Rezvan will define these terms and their ensuing results based on her participation with Yale Professor John Bargh’s research team and as a professor who teaches on this subject. Professor Huckaby has dual Masters’ degrees in Community Psychology and Women’s Studies as well as a certificate in Drug and Alcohol Recovery Counseling. She has been a part-time psychology professor at Albertus Magnus College since 1997 and currently serves as Board President for The Connecticut Women’s Consortium (CWC) a driving force in the education and training for the behavioral health community to provide trauma-informed and gender-responsive care for women and girls as a best practice. She will share how she nurtures students and colleagues and her appreciation of the empowering actions happening at Albertus to address racism. Together they dialogue with participants.
