Social Justice from the Perspective of an Old Social Psychologist

Presenter: Dr. John Bargh

Dr. Bargh will talk about racism because as a child the “racism was overt such as separate water fountains” and he lived through the 1960s. He will also give the research and evidence and theory behind what is going on right now in the USA.

A brief biography: John A. Bargh is a social psychologist currently working at Yale University, where he has formed the Automaticity in Cognition, Motivation, and Evaluation Laboratory. Bargh’s work focuses on automaticity and unconscious processing as a method to better understand social behavior, as well as philosophical topics such as free will. Achievements: Distinguished Scientific Career Award, American Psychological Association, 2014; Elected to American Academy of Arts and Science, 2011; Honorary Doctorate, University of Nijmegen, 2008; Society for Personality and Social Psychology Donald Campbell Award for career contributions to social psychology, 2006; Guggenheim Fellow, 2001.
