The Department of Psychiatry, Yale School of Medicine seeks a licensed clinical psychologist to provide expert clinical services within the Adult Dialectial Behavioral Therapy Intensive Outpatient Program of the Yale New Haven Psychiatric Hospital.
The position carries a faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor within the Department of Psychiatry, and includes participation in the Department’s APA-accredited Doctoral Psychology Internship Program.
This position is full-time and includes the provision of direct clinical care to patients, and support and supervision to doctoral psychology interns and practicum students. The psychologist will carry a caseload of DBT IOP patients and serve as their primary clinician while in IOP, including offering out-of-session phone coaching calls, participating in treatment planning and family meetings, and offering case management and aftercare planning support. Additionally, the psychologist will lead and co-lead a variety of DBT groups during the IOP day, including DBT skills training groups, homework review, and a diary card review group. The psychologist will also supervise psychology trainees, including doctoral interns and practicum students. Interested candidates may also conduct comprehensive psychological assessments with DBT patients and carry a small caseload of comprehensive DBT outpatients. Finally, the psychologist will be active in ongoing program evaluation and program development efforts aimed at informing the expansion of DBT clinical services.

Yale New Haven Hospital encompasses the Yale New Haven Psychiatric Hospital, a 118 bed, acute care, psychiatric facility that consists of five inpatient units across two hospital campus locations, Interventional Psychiatric Services, and several ambulatory IOP and Outpatient programs for adolescents and adults within the greater New Haven area.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess exceptional knowledge and skills in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and will have expertise in treating individuals with Borderline Personality Disorder, group therapy, the provision of clinical supervision to doctoral level interns, and a strong interest in teaching and clinical research.
Strong candidates will also possess expertise in the provision of other evidence-based treatments (such as CBT, ACT, PE) for depression, anxiety, and PTSD. Stong candidates should also have interest and experience in measurement based care, and experience providing clinical supervision to psychology interns and/or practicum students.
Candidates must be licensed (or licensed eligible) within the State of Connecticut and have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to function well as part of a collaborative multi-disciplinary team of psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and nurses.
